[Ibogaine] The War on Consciousness , Marc Emery

Hi Randy,

A very valid point, research is causing constant change, so what have might been good in 2004 are archaic in today's standards. Furthermore it is almost imposable to please each and every person in a service industry, what might be great for you is really the opposite for me - people have different opinions and expectations. I am sure along with many others that we have seen this on more than one occasion, some of the top hospitals in the world have also been singled out from time to time, never mind our local restaurant or house hold commodity store.

But what one needs to always look at and what is very important to all - after sale service! And whether it be a health service in the case of Ibogaine or that of a meal at the local restaurant, a person pays good money and therefore demands a good service!

But then can we please everyone, sometimes the cover on the book or the picture on the menu does not live up to expectations.

I've been watching this thread for a day or so and I think that something is being missed here. I could be wrong but I'm not seeing how long ago this treatment took place. The step dose methadone protocol with boosters came about in early 2004 if I'm not mistaken. I was treated that way for my methadone addiction and my provider said it was a new way of doing Ibogaine for methadone addiction. I was treated September 28 of 2004. I'm sure that there were people doing it that way before that, but it wasn't common knowledge yet. That's what the conferences are for, so the word about better treatment protocol, and new idea's can be spread around. I'm not trying to take sides here, I'm just trying to make a pertinent point.

Anyway, this list is great for bringing about these discussions/arguments for the good of everybody involved. I'm sorry that anybody had to suffer but we learn from our mistakes.

"Where the patient should do some of their own research.." well we sure had read about it a lot and never had heard anything about booster doses.

"to have a relationship of trust with your provider" we totally trusted both Marc and Linette ..until the withdrawals came and we were all alone.
I remember Marc saying over and over how easy it was gonna be for John because he was only on 15 ml.
John wanted off the Methadone more than I can imagine anyone else wanting off the methadone.
From 50ml he spent over a year (don't remember how long) cutting down a few ml every second month..against the advice of his methadone doctor.
We totally trusted Marc! as far as we knew he was the most knowledgeable person in Canada when it came to Ibogaine.
He said one dose would do it.. we believed him.

I don't see why someone should go through withdrawals if there is an easy way to avoid it.

we had read a lot about Ibogaine prior to deciding to request a treatment. We knew not to use the normal dose of methadone (when the withdrawals started after treatment). yet.. what do you do??
I am very thankful for the help we received on that day, i still don't know what we would have done.

Maybe it was wrong to involve the Iboga Therapy house .. When I talked to Sandra maybe a month after treatment (and she didn't seem to have any idea about how to be treating someone for Methadone,
and she also seemed to feel that she was way better than getting advice from other providers) she told me that herself and Marc were fighting over the ownership of the name Iboga Therapy House .
At the time of my first posting it didn't occur to me that the Iboga Therapy House might have change ownership.. I still doubt it very much. but I don't know.
I am willing to say that if other people are involved there is a possibility it could have become a better treatment place... if you are planning to go there ask a lot of questions, especially if you are going for methadone.. Unless you enjoy withdrawals.

I am not so sure about what Marc meant about sweating the methadone out. when? prior or post treatment? John did exercise daily at the time.. do you suppose the withdrawals symptoms were milder?

I'd like to hear from the Iboga Therapy House...

Why would some one be providing ibogane without seeing the whole thing through? This is where I think the patient should do some of their own research and make sure they know what they are getting. Of course there is nothing you can do if some one deliberately misleads you and in this case it could have been very dangerous if you had used the normal dose of methadone. I just think what was described is irresponsible in my opinion as an outsider with the statements that have been made. I think the moral of the story is to have a relationship of trust with your provider and make sure you feel comfortable and don't be afraid to ask questions, it is your right.

I think they were just making the point that they didn't get enough support when the situation wasn't going well. I don't know what goes on at some of these places but if you pay someone they should be there to help you out right they way though. I don't think it's fair to belittle someone for raising their concerns over serious matters because it doesn't relate to the price of ibogaine. Nobody want's to see someone extradited to the US but it sounds pretty dangerous to leave someone out on a limb after treatment.

Most people on this List are aware that Iboga Therapy House is too difficult to get into, and maybe unduelly entangled with their MAPS sponsored longitudinal trial, but I don't see what your problems with Linnette have to do with either our supporting Marc to keep him from winding up in a US prison for the rest of his life, OR the price of ibogaine.
